Abracs backed Lloyd focused on extending TCR China championship lead in Zhejiang

Daniel Lloyd has his eyes firmly on the prize this coming weekend as the TCR China series heads to Zhejiang International Circuit in Shaoxing for the third race meeting of the 2019 championship campaign (6/7 July).

Yorkshireman Lloyd returns to the 3.2km circuit where he contested the 2017 TCR International Series in winning form after dominating the TCR China and TCR Asia mixed field in Shanghai last month.

Competing alongside the Regional TCR Asia series contenders once more, Huddersfield-based Lloyd is eager for a repeat performance of his Shanghai success where he claimed both wins in the #77 Honda Civic Type R to extend his lead at the top of the championship standings.

The Dongfeng Honda Racing Team also leads the Teams’ Championship heading into the weekend with the MacPro Racing-run outfit expanding to a three-car squad for rounds 7 & 8.

“We’ve had quite a long break since the last round at Shanghai, so it’ll be good to get back out in the car again;” commented Lloyd.

“I’ve raced on the Zhejiang once before in the TCR International series but it’s not a track that I know well. We had the dream result last time out with the double win in Shanghai. This weekend we’ll be carrying some success ballast though so I’m expecting to have to work a lot harder for the results.

“It’s all about adding the points now. We’ll be racing against TCR Asia again, so it will be a strong grid. The addition of the third car is great for the Dongfeng Honda Racing Team and our championship challenge.

“I just want to keep the momentum going. Keep racking up the points, and extending our lead in the Driver and Teams’ championship.”

Saturday (July 6) plays host to both back-to-back qualifying sessions at 10.50 & 11.15 (local time) ahead of round 7 at 15.45. Round 8 of the TCR China series take place at 11.20 on Sunday (July 7) with live timing and race coverage available via the TCR Asia website: http://www.tcr-series.tv/asia
